“The kingdom of heaven is at hand,”
He preached not a new Gospel but the same:
Every promise ever made is about to come true.
(Mark 1:15)
Teach us not to mistake our serpents for the fish we asked for, nor these stones for bread.
(Matthew 7:7-11)
Fewer and fewer meditations, it seems like. In my defense, they do exist. They are just more cerebral, or end up in other poetry, or (unfortunately) mildly misapprehend the consecration of the Tabernacle and will have to be rewrought. I am grateful that, unlike over the holidays, I can trace my own thought and growth. So I don’t feel particularly terrible not to have “content” to show for it. That was never the goal.
I’m not sure how to get these on Substack, or if they belong there at all, and I ran out of time to figure out this month. Much to think about.
