But my sin and your grace.
Be mighty, please.
God is spirit; man is flesh.
Thank you that there is flesh in heaven:
An advocate for man to God.
Thank you that there is Spirit in me:
An advocate for God to man.
(1 John 2:1; John 15:26)
I am slowly getting caught up from the holidays. Part of that is that I am finally posting my December meditations almost a week late. There are not so many of them, for the same reason as the lateness of their posting. That’s all right. The first half of December was busy before I got the flu, and the second was filled with gratitude for family in town. I’m happy that things are settling as the new year begins, however, and I’ve almost recovered my routine. The rest of these little thoughts:
The voice of Yahweh writhes the wilderness;
Writhes Yahweh the wilderness of Kadesh.
The voice of Yahweh writhes the deer
And strips the forests,
And in his temple all bespeaks glory.
Yahweh over the flood sits;
Yea, sits Yahweh as king forever.
(Ps 29:8-10, word study)
The sea writhed when you walked through it
Though your footsteps were hidden;
If the sea is writhing,
Then we can be most assured you are working.
(Ps 77:16-19)
Thou art satisfied with the Son
And therefore pleased with me
As I abide in him.
(Rom 8:1, 8?)
The first time the Lord felt
Pain and hunger,
Nakedness and sorrow,
Fear and weakness,
Longing and death:
Christmas Day.
He entered the cursed world with us
As a brother to us,
Experiencing these as one of us,
The cup deeply drinking for us,
So he can lift them from us,
And he can be comfort in us,
Being the Savior of us.
“Christ’s virgin birth represents,
In spite of all the hoopla around Christmas,
His humiliation,
Not his exaltation.”
(Heb 2:17 and Rosaria Champagne Butterfield)
